
No. 20 WVU Loses to Wyoming in Final Road Match

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 20 West Virginia University wrestling team lost to Wyoming, 19-18, at the Uniwyo Sports Complex in Laramie, Wyoming, on Saturday night.
Senior No. 10 Jett Strickenberger kicked the night off with a dominant win in the 125-pound match. Strickenberger extended his win streak to seven consecutive wins after he beat Garrett Ricks by major decision, 11-3.
Fifth-year Tommy Maddox kept West Virginia (9-6, 3-6 Big 12) in control after he defeated Stockton O'Brien by decision, 11-8, in the 133-pound match.
Wyoming quickly answered as the Cowboys won the next three matches to take a 13-7 lead.
Following his first loss of the season against Utah Valley, fifth-year No. 3 Peyton Hall put on a dominant performance against Cooper Voorhees. Hall scored two early takedowns to jump out to a lead and never looked back. He won by technical fall, 18-3.
Redshirt sophomore No. 26 Brody Conley followed Hall with a win by decision against Riley Davis.
However, Wyoming won two of the final three matches to seal the win.
