
No. 17 West Virginia Drops Match to No. 5 Oklahoma State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 17 West Virginia University wrestling team lost to No. 5 Oklahoma State, 34-3, at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown on Sunday.
West Virginia (5-2) dropped its second consecutive match after losing to North Carolina on Dec. 12.
The Mountaineers began the match with freshman No. 25 Gunner Andrick facing No. 11 Ronnie Ramirez at 133 pounds. An escape in the second period put Andrick in the lead heading into the final period.
Ramirez scored an escape to tie the match, but a takedown secured the win for Andrick as he won, 4-2. This marked Andrick's third win over a ranked wrestler this season.
Oklahoma State went on to win the next nine matches as the Mountaineers were without freshman Brock Kehler, redshirt sophomore No. 1 Ty Watters (157), redshirt junior No. 20 Brody Conley (174) and graduate student Willie McDougald (149).
