
WVU Set For Weekend Road Match Against VMI, Mount Aloysius

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 1-ranked West Virginia University rifle team (3-0, 1-0 GARC) is set to hit the road for two weekend road matches against VMI and Mount Aloysius on Saturday, Oct. 14. The match is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET inside Kilbourne Hall in Lexington, Virginia.
West Virginia is 25-3 all-time against VMI and is 1-0 against Mount Aloysius. The Mountaineers have won 29 straight regular-season matches, dating back to the beginning of the 2024-25 season.
West Virginia holds the two top scores in the nation entering the weekend, hitting the nation's top mark of 4745 in the season opener against Memphis and following that mark with a 4744 against Murray State the following day. WVU's 2394 in air rifle against Memphis tied the all-time NCAA mark and set a new program record. The Mountaineers' 4744.5 aggregate and 2355.5 in smallbore lead the nation, while the 2389 in air rifle sits second.
Griffin Lake is leading the nation in scoring average across all three disciplines so far this season. He averages a 1193 aggregate mark with averages of 594 in smallbore and 599 in air rifle.
