
Mountaineers Head to Annapolis for Match with Navy

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 3-ranked West Virginia University rifle team is set for its first road match of the spring slate when they take on No. 6 Navy in the team's third Great America Rifle Conference match. This season the Mountaineers are 9-1 when squaring off against a ranked opponent and 2-0 in conference matches.
Saturday's match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET from Bancroft Hall Rifle Range.

The Mountaineers are 34-8 all-time against Navy in a series that dates back to 1966. West Virginia and the Navy met last season where WVU won 4754-4720 on the road.
WVU's 2394 in air rifle during the fall semester tied the all-time NCAA mark and set a new program record. The Mountaineers' 2383.5 average in air rifle is second in the nation. The squads' aggregate average of 4732.7 is fourth and the 2349.2 in smallbore sits fifth.
Griffin Lake is leading the nation in scoring average in air rifle so far this season with a 598. He averages a 1190 aggregate mark with averages of 592 in smallbore. The scores are the second best in the country.
