
Mountaineers Host Army and Navy on Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 3-ranked West Virginia University rifle team is set to host No. 6 Navy and No. 16 Army on Saturday inside the WVU Shell Building at the Bill McKenzie Mobile Rifle Range. This season, the Mountaineers are 10-1 when squaring off against a ranked opponent and 3-0 in conference matches.
Saturday's match is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET. The match against Army will serve as a Great America Rifle Conference match.

The Mountaineers are 35-8 all-time against Navy in a series that dates back to 1966. West Virginia and the Navy just met last weekend, where the Mountaineers collected a 4755-4724 win. Additionally, WVU is 45-10 against Army in a series that dates back to 1957. The pair met last season, where West Virginia won 4752-4678.
WVU's 2394 in air rifle during the fall semester tied the all-time NCAA mark and set a new program record. The Mountaineers' 2384.5 average in air rifle is second in the nation. The squads' aggregate average of 4735.2 is fourth and the 2350.6 in smallbore sits third.
Griffin Lake is leading the nation in scoring average in air rifle so far this season with a 598.2. He averages a 1190.3 aggregate mark with averages of 592.1 in smallbore. The scores are the second and third best in the country.
