MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Athletics and the Mountaineer Ticket Office announced today updates to student seating at WVU men's basketball home games, designed to enhance the game day experience for students.
Beginning with the 2025-26 season, student seating will transition to a first-come, first-served model, and, in conjunction with a Hope Coliseum seat adjustment, the student section will become fully cohesive and positioned behind the visiting team's basket starting in the 2026-27 season.
2025-26: FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED
The first-come, first-served system mirrors the football student ticketing process, giving the most passionate Mountaineer students the opportunity to be closest to the action. This change is designed to foster one of the most energetic student sections in college basketball.
All other aspects of the student ticketing process—including the request, return, and lottery phases—remain in place.
Game Day Process (Starting with the exhibition game vs. Wheeling, Sunday, October 26):
- The first 1,000 students to enter the Mountaineer Gate at Hope Coliseum will receive a wristband and be seated in lower-level student sections C8–C11, combining what were previously "lower-level seated" and "lower-level standing" areas.
- After wristbands are distributed, additional students will be seated in upper-level sections 229–225.
- Note: Upper-level sections will only open after all 1,000 lower-level wristbands are distributed.
For the 2025-26 season, students will see only "Student" as the ticket option when logging in to request tickets. The ticketing platform can be accessed
HERE or through the University's single sign-on. If requests exceed capacity, a lottery will determine distribution, as in previous years.
Important Student Ticketing Guidelines:
- Tickets cannot be sold or transferred to another student. Violations will be referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and, if necessary, the WVU Police Department.
- All students paying the student activities fee, regardless of class rank, are eligible to request tickets.

2026-27: STUDENT SECTION SEAT ADJUSTMENT
Starting in the 2026-27 season, following the Hope Coliseum seat adjustment, the men's basketball student section will be fully together behind the visiting team's basket.
Bringing the student section together will:
- Maximize home court energy led by our students.
- Create a hostile second-half environment for the visiting team.
- Strengthen student camaraderie and the overall game day atmosphere.
The student section will occupy C6, 113–117, and 220–222 (shown in red on the map). Section C7 will remain for the Mountaineer Pep Band.
