MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  – Junior guard JJ Quinerly and sophomore guard Jordan Harrison of the West Virginia University women's basketball team have been named to the 2023-24 All-Big 12 teams, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Quinerly headlines this year's selections and was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year along with earning All-Big 12 First Team and the All-Big 12 Defensive Team honors. She is joined by Harrison who was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team and Defensive Team.
 
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Quinerly is the first player in program history to be named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. She ranks second in the conference and 12^th in the national in steals per game, averaging just over three, with 88 total steals this season.
 
Quinerly becomes the 13th Mountaineer to be named to the league's first team. The honor is the second time in her career she has been named to the first team after also collecting the recognition last season. She is the third Mountaineer to earn the distinction multiple times, joining Bria Holmes (2014-2015-2016) and Tynice Martin (2017-2019).
 
Additionally, Quinerly and Harrison mark the seventh and eighth Mountaineers' to be named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. Quinerly earns a spot in the team for the second straight season and is the second to land the honor twice, joining Lanay Montgomery who collected the honor in 2016 and 2017.
 
This season, Quinerly and Harrison are one of five Mountaineers to play and start all 29 games. The pair helped the Mountaineer defense lead the league in fewest points allowed (60.3), steals (13.2) and turnover margin (+8.1) during Conference play. Both Quinerly and Harrison lead the conference in steals this season as the duo have combined for 178 steals.
 
Quinerly has averaged a team-leading 19.4 points and 3.0 steals. Her 563 points are the third most by a player in the conference this season with her points per game the fourth best. She adds 2.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game.
 
A native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Harrison's second-team selection is the fifth in program history. This season, Harrison has averaged 13.8 points, 3.1 steals and a league-best 5.4 assists per game.
