
WVU Set For Three Games at the Gulf Coast Showcase

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 28, 2024) – The No. 12-ranked West Virginia University women's basketball team is set to play on the road for the first time this season in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.
West Virginia opens play on Friday, Nov. 29, against High Point with tipoff set to 1:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, WVU will play either Boise State or Illinois State at 11 a.m. or 5 p.m. On Sunday, West Virginia could play any of Butler, New Mexico State, Santa Clara or No. 5 Texas at either 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
All three contest this weekend will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network. The games will be aired on either 100.9 WZST-FM or 89.3 WBKE-FM, with David Kahn on the call. Fans also can listen to the game on the Varsity Network App.

The matchup against High Point will be the third ever meeting between WVU (6-0) and the Panthers (3-3). West Virginis is a perfect 2-0 in the series with the last meeting coming in 2016.
Mark Kellogg is a perfect 17-0 in regular-season nonconference games as head coach of the Mountaineers. West Virginia has won 19 straight regular-season nonconference matchups, a streak that spans three seasons.
High Points enters the contest off a 71-65 loss to Wofford on Thursday, Nov. 21, which marked their third loss of the season.
Aaliyah Collins paces the Leopards with 11.4 points per game and adds 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals. Shakira Baskerville is averaging 7.0 rebounds this season.
Senior guard JJ Quinerly (17.0), Junior guard Jordan Harrison (17.2) and junior guard Sydney Shaw (13.2) pace the Mountaineers scoring production this season. Harrison's 6.0 assists per game leads WVU and ranks 20th in the country. Senior guard Kyah Watson has grabbed 8.7 rebounds per game which ranks sixth in the big 12.
The Big 12's leaders in steals last season, Quinerly (20), Watson (20) and Harrison (14), are at it again this season averaging 3.3 and 2.3 steals per game.
The Mountaineers have produced six straight 20-plus turnovers forced performances to open the season as the mark ranks third in the nation and first among Power Four programs. The Mountaineers have forced 30-plus turnovers in four games. WVU ranks third in the nation with 16.8 steals per game and holds a +14.8-turnover margin.
The Mountaineers are averaging 89.3 points per game while outscoring their opponents by an average of 43.8 points.
