
Mountaineers Close Out Six Game Homestand Against Lafayette

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 13-ranked West Virginia University women's basketball welcomes Lafayette to the WVU Coliseum in the Mountaineers sixth straight home game to open the season on Friday.
Tipoff against the Leopards is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and gates open at 6 p.m. The contest against Lafayette will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 WZST-FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call. Fans also can listen to the game on the Varsity Network App.
Additionally, Friday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Eric Little and Warren Baker on the call. Live stats and game notes are available on WVUsports.com.
Tickets for the contest can be purchased at WVUGAME.com or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located inside the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. The contest will serve as a "Wicked Night" at the WVU Coliseum. Enjoy a night full of fun from the Land of Oz as the Mountaineers celebrate the blockbuster movie WICKED! Fans in attendance will get a special commemorative poster and have the chance to win Wicked theme prizes throughout the night.
The matchup will be the third first ever meeting between WVU (5-0) and Lafayette (1-3).
West Virginia has won 33 straight nonconference home contests dating back to the 2017-18 season. Mark Kellogg is also a perfect 16-0 in regular-season nonconference games as head coach of the Mountaineers.
Lafayette enters the contest off a 91-55 loss to No. 6 Notre Dame on Sunday which is their second straight loss of the season. The Leopards' only win this season came against St. Francis by a final of 53-45. Kay Donahue paces the Lafayette with 13.0 points per game and adds 6.0 rebounds. Abby Antognoli is averaging 3.0 rebounds this season.
Junior guard Jordan Harrison (17.2) and senior guard JJ Quinerly (16.6) pace the Mountaineers scoring production this season. Harrison's 6.2 assists per game leads WVU and ranks 21st in the country. Senior guard Kyah Watson has grabbed 9.2 rebounds per game which ranks 81st in the nation.
The Big 12's leaders in steals last season, Quinerly (27), Harrison (13) and Watson (13), are at it again this season averaging 3.4 and 2.6 steals per game.
The Mountaineers have produced five straight 20-plus turnovers forced performances to open the season as the mark ranks third in the nation and first among Power Four programs. The Mountaineers have forced 30-plus turnovers in three games. WVU ranks ninth in the nation with 16.0 steals per game and holds a +14.8-turnover margin.
The Mountaineers are averaging 87.6 points per game while outscoring their opponents by an average of 38.6 points.
