MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team readies for the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The meet will take place at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, with the Mountaineers set to compete in the women's gold 6k at 11:45 a.m. ET.
This year marks the 49th annual Paul Short Run, presented by Asics. There will be 5,200 student-athletes from 450 high school and collegiate teams competing at this years Paul Short Run, with 12 races throughout the morning and afternoon. The meet offers free admission to spectators, and parking will be available at the Stabler lots for $10.
"We are running a good group on Saturday, opening up a larger pool of our athletes for competition," said WVU coach Sean Cleary. "I am excited to see how our newcomers and veterans handle such a prestigious race, with many Mid-Atlantic Regional competition in attendance."
The Mountaineers were named champions of the Paul Short Run in 2008 and 2009.
The Gold and Blue head to Bethlehem after a successful weekend at the Lock Haven Invitational on Sept. 23, in Lock Haven, Pa. Redshirt senior Sarah Tait set the course and meet record for West Virginia, with a time of 20:14.4 and a second-place finish. Redshirt sophomores Zara Zervos and Aubrie Custer had career best performances in Lock Haven, with Zervos finishing with a 22:26.4 and Custer posting a 23:09.3.
