
Cross Country Team Named Student-Athletes of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team has been named the WVU Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
The Mountaineers claimed the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, earning an automatic spot in the NCAA Championships. WVU finished with 56 team points, highlighted by sophomore Joy Naukot and redshirt sophomore Mercy Kinyanjui, who not only placed first and second, respectively, but also broke the course record. Naukot's winning time of 19:11 also tied the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet record.
Four Mountaineers, Naukot, Kinyanjui, Lexi Lamb and Emily Bryce earned All-Region honors.
WVU returns to action at the NCAA Championships in Columbia, Mo. on Nov. 22.
