Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 2 West Virginia University men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Georgia Southern on Friday night at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers go to 6-0-2 on the season and 0-0-2 in the Sun Belt while the Eagles are now 1-3-4 and 0-0-2 in conference play as well.
WVU outshot Georgia Southern, 20-2, including 7-0 in shots on goal while also holding a 17-1 advantage in corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net.
Senior
Yutaro Tsukada led the Mountaineers with eight shots and had two chances in the 21
st minute, but both of his shots were saved by Georgia Southern keeper Nate Martinez.
After an Eagle handball just outside the box in the 41
st minute, junior
Frederik Jorgensen took the free kick with his left foot, but his shot went just wide.
Tsukada had another chance in the 57
th minute, but Martinez was there once again to make the save.
The last shot on goal for the Mountaineers came in the 80
th minute off the foot of sophomore
Marcus Caldeira, but Martinez was there to make his seventh and final save of the night.
The Mountaineers will return to action on Tuesday at UNC Greensboro. Kickoff against the Spartans is set for 7 p.m.
