Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  - The West Virginia University volleyball team (2-1) split its doubleheader to conclude play at the College of Charleston Classic on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.  
 
The Mountaineers fell in the first match of the day to Davidson, 3-0. Davidson took the match in three sets, with scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-17. West Virginia fought throughout the entire match, starting off hot in the first set before the Wildcats pulled away offensively throughout the rest of the match.  
 
Sophomore outside hitter Bailey Miller led the squad with 11 kills and 10 digs against Davidson. Redshirt senior setter Lauren DeLo added 26 assists for a season high. Defensively, sophomore opposite Lauren Bodily put up three blocks, leading the team. 
 
Overall, the Mountaineers put down 35 kills and 29 digs. 
 
West Virgina went on to defeat the College of Charleston in an electric match, 3-1.  
 
The Mountaineers showed grit throughout the entire match, especially in set three. A high scoring match of 30-32, 27-25, 36-24 and 25-18, the gold and blue never felt the pressure.  
 
Miller was once again a key component for the Mountaineers, dishing out 28 kills and 13 digs, setting career highs in each category.  
 
Junior outside hitter Hailey Green was a fierce competitor over the Cougars and made key plays when it mattered. Green collected 24 kills and three digs. 
 
Sophomore middle blocker Tierney Jackson led the way in blocks, collecting seven in the match. DeLo also set a new career record against the Cougars, adding 63 assists. 
 
Collectively, West Virginia put down 79 kills, 79 digs, 72 assists and 16 blocks.  

"We competed a lot better tonight and I am proud of how we battled," WVU coach Reed Sunahara said. "We still have a long way to go, but we made some good adjustments to get tonight's win."

Miller and Green were honored with all-tournament team selections at the College of Charleston Classic.
 
Next up, West Virgina is on the road at the Duke/North Carolina Tournament, where both Duke and North Carolina will serve as tournament hosts. The Mountaineers square off against North Carolina at the Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. ET. The squad will then travel to Durham, N.C., to play Loyola at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C., at 4 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 1. On Saturday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m., the Mountaineers will face Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium to conclude the tournament.
