MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (7-0) continued its undefeated run with a commanding three-set sweep of St. John's to open the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic at Carnesecca Arena. The Mountaineers secured the victory with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-19.
WVU delivered a balanced offensive performance and a disciplined defensive effort, hitting .284 overall. The team also recorded 35 digs, 34 assists, 12 total blocks, and seven service aces.
Senior middle blocker
Laila Ibrahim led the charge with 11.5 points, including seven kills and a game-high eight blocks. Redshirt junior opposite
Trinity Sheridan added 9.5 points, hitting .350 with eight kills, while junior middle blocker
Maddy McGath contributed 8.5 points on five kills and three blocks.
Cassidy Tanton chipped in eight points, six digs, and two aces.

Alexis Finnvold orchestrated the offense with 16 assists and an ace, while freshman setter
Sarah Pfiffner added 12 assists and four digs.

LonDynn Betts anchored the defense with 14 digs, and junior outside hitter
Nina Horning racked up five total blocks, ranking second on the team behind Ibrahim.
The Mountaineers return to action tomorrow evening to face Marist at 7 p.m. as the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic continues.
