MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (9-0) closed out the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic with authority, sweeping Delaware State for its fourth consecutive straight-set victory. The Mountaineers controlled the match from start to finish, with set scores of 25-14, 25-17, and 25-14.
WVU delivered a dominant all-around performance, hitting .427 as a team with 42 kills and 39 assists. Defensively, the Mountaineers added 37 digs, five blocks, and 10 service aces to maintain tempo and pressure throughout the match.
In the opening set, West Virginia came out strong, swinging at a .464 clip with 15 kills and 13 assists. Four service aces and two blocks helped establish early momentum. The second set turned into a defensive battle, but WVU held firm with eight kills, three blocks, and six digs. The Mountaineers closed out the match in commanding fashion in the third, hitting .621 with 19 kills, 18 assists, and 15 digs.

Anna Barr led the offense with nine kills on a .500 hitting percentage, adding two assists and two total blocks for 10 points. Redshirt senior outside hitter
Cassidy Tanton matched her kill total with nine on just 14 swings, hitting .571 and contributing nine points. Redshirt junior opposite
Trinity Sheridan added seven kills on 10 attempts (.700) and a block for 7.5 points.

Laila Ibrahim chipped in seven kills and led the team with three total blocks. Junior outside hitter
Nina Horning anchored the back row with nine digs, two total blocks, and three service aces for seven points. Junior middle blocker
Maddy McGath added three kills, two blocks, and an assist, while senior opposite

Maggie Elliott each contributed two kills off the bench.

Sarah Pfiffner directed the offense with 15 and 17 assists, respectively, combining for two aces and seven digs.
West Virginia will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, next weekend for the Dolphin Volleyball Classic, hosted by Jacksonville University from Sept. 18–20. The Mountaineers are scheduled to face Florida A&M, Jacksonville, and Jacksonville State.
