MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior
Rachel Butler, redshirt junior
Charlotte Wood and redshirt senior
Hayley Jackson competed at the Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on April 27.
"Slipping over to Penn with a few athletes brought back a nostalgia that we have not experienced since we have been back to Penn," coach Sean Cleary said. "So many of our athletes have worn the gold and blue in this stadium, and this group represented quite well."
In her debut 5,000-meter run for WVU, Butler set her personal best with a time of 16:08.94. Wood also set her career best, earning a time of 16:27.15.
"Both Charlotte and Rachel ran lifetime bests to complete the evening," Cleary added. "While they both wanted a little more, I feel like it was a nice set up for conference."
Jackson competed in the 1,500-meter run and crossed the finish line at 4:24.80.
"Hayley ran a little knackered tonight," Cleary said. "Sometimes a dead week does that to an athlete. Either way, we will return home and get ready for the home meet on Saturday."
West Virginia returns to action at the Mountaineer Twilight on Saturday, April 29, in Morgantown. The meet takes place at the Track and Field Complex at Mylan Park, and the Mountaineers begin at 5:05 p.m. ET. Live results can be found on
