
WVU Enters D1Baseball Poll at No. 24

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 20, 2023) – Winners of nine straight games, the West Virginia baseball team finds itself in the Top 25 for the first time this season, clocking in at No. 24 by D1Baseball.
It is the first time the Mountaineers have been ranked by D1Baseball since March 8, 2021, when they were No. 23.
WVU is coming off a 5-0 road trip, winning two at Appalachian State before sweeping a three-game set at UNC Greensboro. On the trip, the Mountaineers outscored their opponents, 76-9, highlighted by a 28-2 win over the Spartans on Saturday.
Overall, West Virginia is 15-4, the best start to a season in the Randy Mazey era and has collected series wins over Arizona and Minnesota in addition to App State and UNC Greensboro as well as midweek win at No. 13 Maryland.
The Mountaineers will look for their first 10-game winning streak since 2008 as they welcome Hofstra to Morgantown for two games on Tuesday and Wednesday before hosting Xavier for a three-game series over the weekend.
