MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 31, 2022) – The West Virginia University tennis team is set for its second Big 12 road swing of the season, as the Mountaineers travel to Kansas for a pair of ranked matches against No. 22 Kansas and No. 50 Kansas State.
WVU (7-11, 0-4 Big 12) begins its two-match road trip on Friday, April 1, against the Jayhawks in Lawrence. First serve from the Jayhawk Tennis Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
The Mountaineers wrap up their weekend in the Sunflower State on Sunday, April 3, with a matchup against the Wildcats. Sunday's match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET, at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium, in Manhattan.
"It's our second week on the road during Big 12 competition and we're looking to improve our performance from last week," Mountaineer coach Miha Lisac said. "Kansas and Kansas State are both good programs and I'm excited for our group to have this challenge."
West Virginia and KU (12-6, 2-2 Big 12) will meet on the tennis court for the ninth time since joining the Big 12 on Friday. The Mountaineers are seeking their first-ever win against the Jayhawks this weekend. Kansas is coming off a five-game win streak, with notable wins over No. 39 SMU, No. 41 Texas Tech, No. 71 TCU and Kansas City.
The Mountaineers and the Wildcats (8-8, 0-4 Big 12) are set to meet for the 12th time on Sunday. WVU also is seeking its first-ever win against Kansas State. In its last meeting, KSU topped WVU, 4-2, at the Summit Tennis Academy, in Morgantown, during the 2021 campaign.
