MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The waiver for immediate eligibility for West Virginia University men's basketball student-athlete Jose Perez has been denied by the NCAA, coach Bob Huggins announced today.
Perez, a 6-foot-5 guard from the Bronx, New York, transferred from Manhattan and enrolled at WVU in November for the spring semester.
He is eligible to start practicing with the Mountaineers on Dec. 17.
"We are disappointed by the news that we received this afternoon from the NCAA," Huggins said. "All of Mountaineer Basketball is hurting for Jose. We plan to appeal this decision."
