WVU Remains No. 12 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team remains at No. 12 in this week's edition of the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Top 25 National Poll, as announced on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) split a pair of matches last week to open the 2021 campaign at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown. First, the squad opened the season with a 4-0 win over Buffalo on Aug. 19, before falling to No. 4 Virginia, 1-0, on Aug. 22.
Florida State (2-0) tops the national poll, while North Carolina (2-0) and UVA (2-0), rank second and third, respectively. UCLA (2-0) and Duke (2-0) round out the top five. Also included in the top 10 is Big 12 foe TCU, slotted at No. 6 after winning a pair of contests last week.
West Virginia prepares for its first road trip of the season, as the team travels to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Aug. 27, for a 7 p.m. ET, matchup with Bucknell. The Mountaineers then return home to host Duquesne on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 5 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
