MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –West Virginia University Director of Athletics Shane Lyons announced the schedule for the 2019-20 wrestling season on Friday.
The schedule consists of three open tournaments, one quad meet and 12 dual matches – six of which will take place at the WVU Coliseum. The Mountaineers will wrestle eight Big 12 duals, hosting three.
"We have put together a really challenging schedule this year. The Big 12 Conference is always so strong in general and then you add the toughest tournament during the year in the Southern Scuffle." second-year coach Tim Flynn said. "I believe our guys will be really challenged throughout the year, but we are looking forward to that challenge."
Fans will get a sneak peek of the squad on Oct. 26, when the team hosts its annual Gold/Blue intra-squad match. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will take place in the WVU Shell Building.
The Mountaineers open the season with two open tournaments, as the squad travels to Roanoke, Virginia, for the Hokie Open on Nov. 3, before competing at the Mountaineer Invitational in Boone, North Carolina, on Nov. 9.
West Virginia will compete in its first dual match of the season on November 16, as it takes on Big 12-member Northern Colorado at Bank of Colorado Arena, in Greeley, Colorado. The match marks the second consecutive season the Mountaineers and Bears have faced each other in the dual-match opener as WVU topped UNC 22-14, in Morgantown last season.
The Mountaineers will then travel to West Point, New York, to take on Army on Nov. 24 at Christl Arena. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. ET.

The Mountaineers start the new year with their final open tournament at the 16th Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Jan. 2-3. The tournament, which features what is considered the best collection of competition of any in-season open, will take place at McKenzie Arena.
WVU then hits the road for the next three matches. The team will continue the road swing with a two-match trip through Oklahoma as it heads to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to face perennial national contender Oklahoma State on Jan. 17, before taking on Oklahoma in Norman on Jan. 19.
