
Mountaineers Drop Road Dual to No. 4 Iowa State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 18 West Virginia University wrestling team lost to No. 4 Iowa State, 32-7, on Friday night at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
Freshman No. 16 Gunner Andrick and redshirt junior No. 22 Ian Bush were the only winners for West Virginia (9-5, 4-3 Big 12). Andrick defeated Adrian Meza by decision, 5-0, to pick up his seventh win against Big 12 opponents this year. Bush rolled past Aiden Riggins, winning by major decision, 14-0.
Redshirt sophomore No. 7 Ty Watters dropped just his second match of the year, losing to No. 8 Vinny Zerban by decision, 5-2.
In his first action since December, graduate student Willie McDougald nearly pulled off an upset against No. 8 Jacob Frost in the 149-pound bout. McDougald scored a late takedown in the third period, but an escape before time expired earned the win for Frost.
Iowa State would go on to take eight of the 10 matches.
