Foster Earns Preseason Best XI Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior goalkeeper Rylee Foster of the No. 11-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team was named to the TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI Second Team.
The lone Mountaineer representative, Foster, a native of Cambridge, Ontario, ranks behind USC goalkeeper Kaylie Collins, who landed on the first team.
Also named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List and the 2019 Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer Team, Foster enters her fourth season at WVU as one of the nation's top netminders. As a junior, she garnered United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team and All-Big 12 First Team honors, while being named a finalist for the CONCACAF Female Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Foster logged the fourth-most minutes nationally in 2018 (2,133:38) and earned credit for 11 of the Mountaineers' 12 shutouts, tops in the Big 12 and No. 6 nationally. She also ranked No. 1 in the conference with a 0.55 goals-against average (GAA).
The Mountaineers open the 2019 season with a home match against Duquesne on Friday, Aug. 23. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. ET. WVU will conclude the opening weekend of play with a matchup against No. 2-ranked Stanford on Sunday, at Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pennsylvania.
