MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team opens its home spring season at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Sunday, April 7, with kick against Georgetown set for 2 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public.
It's a Pink Match, and the Mountaineers will auction one game-worn pink jersey, with proceeds going to the WVU Cancer Institute. WVU auctioned six jerseys in February and raised $2,100.
"I'm super excited to see what this team will bring Sunday, especially in our stadium," Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown said. "Pink games are always special opportunities for us to bring awareness to breast cancer research and to raise money, which is something we really love to do."
WVU faces a familiar foe in the Hoyas, who have qualified for the NCAA College Cup in two of the last three seasons.
"Georgetown is a great program," Izzo-Brown added. "Sunday's match is going to be a good test for our group, and we will get a better handle on where we stand."
The Mountaineers opened their spring season with a 0-0 draw at Sky Blue FC on March 23 at Sportika Sports in Manalapan, New Jersey. Junior Rylee Foster made four saves, two in each half, and defended six corner kicks. WVU finished with two shots, including a shot on-goal by sophomore defender Kayla Morrison.
