MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University linebacker Jake Abbott, a redshirt sophomore from Fairmont, West Virginia, is the winner of the 2019 Tommy Nickolich Memorial Award, presented by the Blue and Gold News.
Abbott, a Fairmont Senior High graduate, is in his third year as a member of the football team and through hard work, saw his playing time on special teams increase at the end of last season. He saw action in four of the last five games of the season, including a season-high 10 plays against Oklahoma.
Abbott is a business major, who has earned Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll and Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades.
