MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team begins its spring schedule at Lehigh on Sunday, March 24, at 3 p.m. ET.
The exhibition contest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, will be played at Frank Banko Field.
"We are looking forward to getting back out on the pitch and giving some different players an opportunity to play that didn't this past fall," WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. "This time of year is about development for us, not necessarily about results. The spring season is a great chance for our guys to make strides towards the fall."
The Mountaineers also will attend tonight's Philadelphia Union vs. Columbus Crew Major League Soccer match, where former West Virginia stars Ray Gaddis (WVU 2008-11) and Jack Elliott (WVU 2013-16) currently play for the Union.
The spring slate continues when WVU travels to Kentucky on March 30, at 7 p.m. West Virginia then plays its first of two home matches on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m., vs. Liberty. Admission will be free for all fans at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
WVU's second home contest is the annual Alumni Match, on April 26, at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers are coming off an impressive 2018 campaign. WVU won the Mid-American Conference regular-season title and reached the NCAA Tournament's second round. West Virginia was ranked in the top 25 in each of the major poll's final rankings last season and came in as high as No. 17 by Soccer America.
The Mountaineers finished the year with a 14-7-0 record and a perfect 5-0-0 mark in MAC play. WVU was one of two teams nationally to go unbeaten and untied in conference play. The 14 wins were its most since 2007 and one shy of the program record of 15, set in 2006.
