MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team's spring match at Maryland has been postponed to Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. ET.
The exhibition contest, originally scheduled for this Sunday, is one of six matches for the Mountaineers this spring.
The spring slate will now begin at Lehigh on March 24, at 3 p.m. WVU then travels to Kentucky on March 30, at 7 p.m.
West Virginia plays its first of two home matches on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m., vs. Liberty. Admission will be free for all fans at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers then travel to Duquesne on April 13, for a noon match in Pittsburgh, before the matchup at Maryland on April 19, at 7 p.m.
The annual Alumni Match wraps up the spring schedule, where the current team will face former Mountaineers at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Kickoff on April 26 is set for 7 p.m., and admission will be free.
Maryland comes into the spring as the reigning national champions, while WVU returns to the pitch after winning the 2018 Mid-American Conference regular-season title and reaching the NCAA Tournament's second round.
Along with its conference championship and NCAA berth, West Virginia was ranked in the top 25 in each of the major poll's final rankings last season and came in as high as No. 17 by Soccer America.
The Mountaineers finished the year with a 14-7-0 record and a perfect 5-0-0 mark in MAC play. WVU was one of two teams nationally to go unbeaten and untied in conference play. The 14 wins were West Virginia's most since 2007 and one shy of the program record of 15, set in 2006.
