MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior defender Bianca St. Georges collected her second Team MVP honor in as many years at the West Virginia University women's soccer season-ending banquet, held Saturday, Feb. 23, at Touchdown Terrace inside Milan Puskar Stadium.
A two-time team captain, St. Georges, a native of St. Felix de Valois, Quebec, anchored a Mountaineer defense which posted 12 shutouts and allowed just 13 opponent goals in 2018. A senior, St. Georges helped the WVU backline hold its Big 12 opponents to just five goals in the regular season. The Mountaineers denied three consecutive opponents a goal en route to the 2018 Big 12 Soccer Championship title.
A starter in 80-of-81 career matches, St. Georges finished second on the team this season in goals (7) and points (14), both career single-season bests. She was a perfect five-for-five from the penalty line, the best mark nationally.
A 2018 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy candidate, St. Georges was named to the Senior CLASS Award All-America First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team. She also earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honor and was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team. She was selected 20th overall by the Chicago Red Stars at the 2019 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft.
A leader in the classroom, too, St. Georges was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America of the Year for Division I women's soccer and earned United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-America First Team honors.
