WVU Welcomes Buffalo Sunday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University wrestling team concludes its season-opening homestand with a match against Buffalo on Sunday, Dec. 8. The bout is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET at the WVU Coliseum.
Fans can watch the match at WVUsports.com/Watch and the WVU Gameday App. Tony Onarato and Michael Minnich will have the call. Sunday's match will also be streamed live on FloWrestling.com. Live stats will be available for the match through TrackWrestling.com.
Thursday is Dollar Night, and all tickets and select concessions will be available for $1 each. Additionally, the team will hold a post-match autograph session on the concourse of the WVU Coliseum.
Fans can purchase tickets by visiting WVUGAME.com, calling 1-800-WVUGAME or at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. All tickets are general admission.
"We're excited for another opportunity to wrestle in front of our fans," second-year coach Tim Flynn said. "Buffalo is a really solid team from top to bottom and our guys are hungry for a win, so I expect this to be a really hard-fought match."
The Mountaineers and Bulls will meet for the fourth time on Sunday. WVU has earned a win in all three meetings between the two schools. West Virginia earned a win 19-13 win over Buffalo at the 2015 Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals in Albany, New York. The lone meeting in Morgantown between WVU and UB came in 2002, when the Mountaineers bested the Bulls, 26-6.
Redshirt sophomore Noah Adams enters the match riding a 11-match win streak to begin the year after earning a 8-6 decision over No. 25 Kellan Stout on Thursday against No. 10 Pitt. The Coal City, West Virginia, native is ranked No. 11 by Intermat in the 197-pound division and sits at No. 18 and No. 19 by TrackWrestling and Open Mat, respectively. Adams leads the squad with two wins via technical falls and is tied for the team lead with four major decisions this season.
Sophomore Caleb Rea is second on the squad with an 8-4 record at 141 and is tied with freshman Scott Joll for the team lead with three pins this season.
West Virginia is 0-3 this season after falling to the Panthers, 29-6, on Dec. 5, in the 65th edition of the Backyard Brawl. The Mountaineers fell in the first eight bouts, before Adams and redshirt senior Brandon Ngati picked up wins in the final two matches.
The Bulls enter the bout with a 1-4 record after dropping a pair of matches at CSU-Bakersfield on Nov. 22, and at Cal Poly on Nov. 23. Buffalo earned its lone win of the season after downing Long Island, 37-3, on Nov. 9.
Merzhausen, Germany, native Lars Schafle leads Buffalo with 10 wins this season. The Bulls feature a trio of ranked wrestlers in their lineup as Troy Keller (165), Sam Schuyler (197) and Derek Spann (133) earned rankings in at least one of the three major polls this week.
All eyes will be on the match at 197 on Sunday, as WVU's Adams and UB's Schuyler face off in a top-20 battle. Schulyer is ranked No. 20 by TrackWrestling, while Adams sits at No. 19.
