Dear Mountaineer Nation,
If you were to ask me four years ago where I'd be today, I wouldn't be able to tell you. I had no idea how much West Virginia University would impact my life and career in just a short period of time.
Â
Coming from Cambridge, Ontario, I wasn't sure what to expect when I came to a small town like Morgantown four years ago. However, the people of West Virginia have done nothing but support me and treat me like one of their own. I will never be able to repay you, Mountaineer Nation, for all of the support, advice and love that I have received while in Morgantown. Every interaction I have had with Mountaineer Nation, whether it was signing an autograph or visiting the Children's Hospital, has made me a better person and has made me truly appreciate how special of a place Almost Heaven is.
Â
I want to thank the fans for being at every game and continuously supporting our team during the highs and the lows and never giving up on us. I want to thank the staff and faculty at WVU for supporting me and my endeavors and allowing me to graduate from this institution.
I would also like to thank my teammates. Over the last four years, I have made bonds that I know will last forever, and I have met some of the most influential people who have changed my perspective on life.
Â
To the coaches who gave me a shot, thank you. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be here today, and I am forever grateful to you for giving me an opportunity. Thank you Izzo for always having my back and never giving up on me. You gave a small Cambridge girl the ability to fulfill her dreams, and because of that, I will always be thankful for all you have provided me.
Â
Lastly, I want to thank my parents. The sacrifices you have made to support this incredible journey has paid off, and I cannot express how thankful I am to have such a strong family foundation. My sisters who have sacrificed their time and opportunities just to support mine, you guys will always be my biggest fans and my motivation.
Â
To the future generations of Mountaineers, take it all in, it goes by fast and before you know, it's over, embrace the suck and enjoy the ride. WVU provided me an education, a chance to live out my dreams and relationships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you for it all, and I can't wait to represent Mountaineer Nation wherever soccer takes me next. Once a Mountaineer, Always a Mountaineer. Â
Â
Cheers,
Rylee Foster #25
