Sunday's matchup marks the 17th overall meeting between West Virginia and Oklahoma State. The Mountaineers hold a 12-3-1 advantage in the series and are 3-1-1 in games played in Stillwater. The two teams met last year on Oct. 26 in Morgantown, with West Virginia coming out on top, 2-0, behind goals from Ava Arnold and Abbey Olexa. West Virginia is currently on a three-game win streak against the Cowgirls.

A trio of Mountaineers rank among the top performers in the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA in several categories this season. Junior forward/defender Sophia Nickel leads the league and is second in the NCAA in game-winning goals (6), while she is No. 6 in the Big 12 in total goals (7) and goals per game (0.50). Redshirt senior goalkeeper Bailey Herfurth is fourth in the league and No. 44 in the NCAA in goals-against average (0.714). She also ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 and No. 47 nationally in shutouts (6). Senior midfielder Anna Hauer is No. 6 in the league in total assists (5) and No. 7 in the Big 12 in assists per game (0.36).

Last time out, West Virginia fell to No. 14 Texas Tech, 2-1, at John Walker Soccer Complex in Lubbock, Texas, on Oct. 22. Despite West Virginia scoring first, Texas Tech scored a pair of unanswered goals to claim the ranked win at home. The Mountaineers got on the board first in the seventh minute with an impressive strike off a free kick at the top of the box from senior midfielder Maya Leoni. Texas Tech was then able to draw level with a penalty kick goal in the 25th minute, before adding a second tally to seal the win in the second half.

Oklahoma State is led by 31-year head coach Colin Carmicheal and enters Sunday's game with a 5-7-4 overall record, as well as a 1-5-2 mark in the Big 12. The Cowgirls are coming off a 2-2 draw with Utah on Oct. 22. OSU started Big 12 play by beating defending league champs TCU, 3-1, for its first Big 12 win since 2024. Sophomore forward Sonora DeFini leads the offense with six goals and three assists for 15 points. In goal, fifth-year keeper Avery Bass has recorded 35 saves on the year.
