Addison Clark scored a golden goal in the 103rd minute to lead the West Virginia University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Big 12-leader Texas on Sunday.
WVU (7-4-1, 2-1-0) earned its second win in conference play, while Texas (7-4-1) fell to 3-1 in the Big 12. West Virginia moved to 8-2-1 all-time against the Longhorns and 4-2-0 in Austin with the win.
"We faced so much adversity up until this point, so for us to come out and win this game is huge," Coach
Nikki Izzo-Brown said. "I haven't been more proud of a team. We grinded, put our hearts on our sleeves and did everything we could do to win."
The two teams battled throughout the first half, with most of the play staying in the middle of the field. The Mountaineers held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks and each team recorded seven shots in the first half.

Jade Gentile put a cross into the box that freshman
Enzi Broussard volleyed a shot that went wide right after it was blocked by a Texas defender. Freshman
Juliana Lynch hit a header off the ensuing corner, but it also went wide right.
West Virginia started the second half fast, as sophomores
Addison Clark and
Alina Stahl registered a shot apiece in the first two minutes of the second half.
The Mountaineers broke the scoreless tie in the 48th minute as senior midfielder
Jessica Lisi put hit a long ball from the right side of the field that found Broussard on the left post. Broussard hit a perfectly placed ball to the right that went just below the diving Texas goalkeeper.
The goal marked Broussard's first career goal, while Sibley picked up her second assist of the season with the perfectly-placed dish.
Texas used an offensive barrage to net the equalizer in the 78th minute. The Longhorns put back-to-back shots on net that senior goalkeeper
Rylee Foster parried before UT's Cydney Billups headed the rebound into the back of the net.
The Mountaineers responded with four shots in the final 12 minutes of play but could not find the back of the net as the match headed to overtime. WVU outshot UT, 19-4, and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks in regulation.
The Mountaineers controlled possession and outshot the Longhorns 3-2 in the first overtime, while holding a 2-0 advantage in corners.
WVU took just 3:10 into the second overtime to put the winning goal into the back of the net. Freshman
Nicole Payne fired a left-footed shot from inside the box that was blocked back out to the 18-yard line. Clark took the rebound and fired a shot into the left side of the net to give WVU the 2-1 win.
Clark's goal marked her second of the year and the third of her career. Payne's assist was the first of her career.
The Mountaineers tied a season-high with 11 corner kicks in the match. WVU led Texas, 26-17, in shots and edged UT 10-7 in shots on goal.
West Virginia returns to Morgantown to take on No. 18 Texas Tech on Thursday, Oct. 10. First kick from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m. WVU will host its annual Soctober Fest on Thursday, with the first 200 fans will receive a WVU koozie. There will be a variety of Oktoberfest-themed food options offered at the concessions stands throughout the contest.
