MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2019 Big 12 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced on Thursday.
 
The Mountaineers, who are one of just two teams to make the Big 12 Championship semifinals each of the last three years, collected 31 points in the poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches.
 
Texas Tech was picked to finish No. 1 in the preseason poll with 61 points and six first-place votes, followed by Baylor, with 58 points and two first-place votes. TCU was picked third, with 48 points and one first-place vote.
 
Voted to finish fourth was Texas, with 40 points, followed by Oklahoma State in fifth, with 39 points. Following WVU, Oklahoma was seventh with 23 points. Kansas (16 points) and Kansas State (8) round out the preseason poll.
 
Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
Along with three consecutive Big 12 Championship semifinal appearances, WVU has finished in the top four in the final Big 12 standings in three of its first six seasons in the league. Despite its early success since joining the conference, West Virginia has never been voted better than fifth in the preseason poll.

The Mountaineers open the 2019 season at the Atlanta Challenge from Feb. 15-17 in Atlanta. Opening day is set for Feb. 15, at Kennesaw State, and the weekend continues with contests at Georgia State (Feb. 16) and Georgia Tech (Feb. 17). Big 12 action begins for the Mountaineers at Baylor from March 22-24.
 
Additionally, the Big 12 announced that all-session tickets for the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship are now on sale. The annual event will once again be held at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. The double-elimination event begins on Wednesday, May 22, and concludes with the championship game on Sunday, May 26.

All-session tickets include all games of the championship, including if-necessary games, totaling 15 contests. Tickets start as low as $69.00 for terrace seats, with field level tickets $99.00 and club seats available for $169.00.
 
Group tickets are available for groups of 10 or more. Group ticket prices start at $12.00 per session for terrace seats, with field seats $15.00 per session. Groups can reserve the best seats before single-session tickets go on sale to the public.
