MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A five-match win streak has pushed the West Virginia University women's soccer team back into the rankings, as the Mountaineers sit at No. 23 in this week's Soccer America Women's College Top 25.
This week's ranking matches WVU's last position in the poll, a spot the Mountaineers (6-2-3) held the week of Aug. 28. WVU fell out of the poll the next week.
The Mountaineers sit just outside the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's National Poll at No. 26.
Stanford (8-0-1) ranks No. 1 in the Soccer America Poll and is followed by No. 2 USC (8-0-1) and No. 3 Santa Clara (9-1-1). North Carolina (8-2-1) and Washington State (8-0) rank No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Texas (9-0-1) sits at No. 6, and Tennessee (8-1-1) ranks No. 7. Boston College (10-0) follows at No. 8, and Virginia (8-1) and Texas A&M (11-1) round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers open a three-match homestand at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium this Friday, Sept. 28, against Kansas State, with kick set for 7 p.m. It's Mental Health Awareness Night, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a team wristband. Happy Hour at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium also will debut Friday night, with half-priced beverages available from 6-7 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com to avoid lines at the gate on game day. When purchasing in advance online, tickets are $5 each and $3 for groups of 10 or more. All tickets are general admission.
At the stadium ticket window, tickets will be $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and $3 for groups on game day. The discounted online pricing will be available until kickoff of the match.
WVU students are admitted for free with a valid WVU Student I.D.
