DAYTON, Ohio – The West Virginia University men's soccer team faces Dayton on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. ET, at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio.
WVU and UD square off for the second consecutive season. The Mountaineers won last year's matchup, 1-0 at home, thanks to a goal in the 90th minute.
"Dayton has proven to be a very good team this year," WVU coach
Marlon LeBlanc said. "I thought when we played them last year, they were the better team on the night, and we were able to find a result. This year, I expect they'll be even better, and we'll have our hands full on the road in Dayton on Saturday night."

The Mountaineers (4-3) play their lone road match in a five-game span. The stretch began with back-to-back wins at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, 3-1 vs. Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sept. 15, and 2-0 against Cincinnati on Tuesday.
The Flyers (4-1-3) boast a .889 team save percentage, which ranks No. 5 in the country. UD also is eighth in the NCAA with a 0.462 team goals-against average and No. 13 with a .625 shutout percentage.
Senior midfielder
Joey Piatczyc ranks No. 14 in the country with four assists and is 23rd nationally with two game-winning goals, both Mid-American Conference-best totals. Piatczyc's eight points is second in the MAC, while senior forward
Rushawn Larmond and junior midfielder
Ethan Shim share the team lead with three goals and are tied for second with six points.
In goal, sophomore
Steven Tekesky leads the MAC and is No. 17 in the country with a .848 save percentage, while he has a league-best 29 total saves and is second in the conference with a 0.722 goals-against average.
SCOUTING DAYTON
Dayton enters the weekend with a 4-1-3 record and a 2-0-1 mark at home. The Flyers have outscored opponents 4-0 at home and have allowed more than one goal in a match just once, in the season opener. UD is coming off a 1-1 draw at Oakland on Tuesday.
The Flyers are led by Jonas Fjeldberg, who has a team-best three goals, seven points and 11 shots on goal. Aidan Bean has two goals, while Laurel Aug has a goal and an assist. In goal, Federico Barrios has played all 780 minutes. He has allowed four goals for a 0.46 goals-against average with 31 saves and a .886 save percentage.
In 14 seasons as head coach, Dennis Currier has led the Flyers to three Atlantic 10 titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2008 and 2015. He owns a 134-85-42 record at Dayton and a 322-134-54 career record.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE FLYERS
West Virginia is 1-0 all-time against Dayton following a 1-0 victory at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium last year.
Ryan Kellogg scored his first career goal at 89:32 to lead the Mountaineers, while
Stephen Banick made three saves, two in the second half. The shutout on Sept. 23 was WVU's sixth of the season.

LAST TIME OUT: SHUTOUT WIN
A pair of second-half goals and a shutout performance defensively lifted West Virginia to a 2-0 home victory over Cincinnati on Sept. 18. Sophomore defender
Kevin Morris scored his first career goal in the 52nd minute and Kellogg added a goal, his first of the year, in the 71st.
The Mountaineers recorded their second clean sheet of the season and held the Bearcats to just two shots, both in an 11-minute span in between WVU's two goals in the second half. Tekesky saved both shots he faced.
Sophomore forward
Tsubasa Takada had a career-best two assists, while junior midfielder
Sebastian Garcia-Herreros also had an assist, on WVU's second goal.
Offensively, WVU had 13 shots, four on goal. Takada led the team with five shots and was one of four Mountaineers with one shot on goal. Kellogg added three shots in the win.
West Virginia held a 9-0 advantage in shots in the first half, with two shots on goal. The Mountaineers had four corner kicks to the Bearcats' one.
