MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia jumped two spots in both major college football polls, WVU now ranked No. 12 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 13 in the Amway Coaches Poll, both released earlier today.
The Mountaineers (2-0) were idle last week because of Hurricane Florence, which made a direct hit on North Carolina and forced several cancellations in the Tar Heel State on Saturday, including West Virginia's game at NC State.
WVU now shifts its focus to Kansas State and its Big 12 opener this Saturday against the Wildcats, a 41-17 winner over UTSA yesterday to improve to 2-1 on the season. Quarterback Skyler Thompson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in K-State's 24-point victory.
Tickets still remain for Saturday's Stripe-The-Stadium game, set to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and to be televised nationally on ESPN. Tickets can be purchased by logging on to WVUGAME.com or by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office toll-free at 1-800-WVU GAME beginning tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
