MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Members of the athletic equipment staff spent Thursday afternoon fitting West Virginia University football players with their helmets.
Coach Dana Holgorsen is beginning his eighth season leading the Mountaineers, which will begin the season ranked 20thin the Amway Coaches' Poll released yesterday.
Holgorsen is scheduled to meet with members of the media for the first time this fall prior to Sunday's evening practice.
West Virginia opens the 2018 campaign at Bank America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Mountaineers take on the Tennessee Volunteers of the Southeastern Conference on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on CBS.
It will be the first-ever meeting between these two historic college football programs.
WVU's home opener is Saturday, Sept. 8, against Youngstown State and the Big 12 season gets underway on Saturday, Sept. 22, versus Kansas State in Morgantown.
Tickets for the 2018 campaign are on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office and can be purchased by calling 1-800-WVU GAME or by logging on to WVUGAME.com.
