Mountaineers Rank as High as No. 17

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a pair of draws at the Boilermaker Challenge Cup last weekend, the West Virginia University women's soccer team is ranked as high as No. 17 in this week's national rankings.
The Mountaineers (0-1-3) move up one spot to No. 17 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Division I Top 25 and also rank No. 23 in the Soccer America Women's College Top 25. WVU is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's National Poll.
Stanford (2-0) ranks No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, while UCLA (2-0) sits at No. 2 and North Carolina (3-0-1) follows at No. 3. Florida State (4-0) and Penn State (2-1) rank No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Virginia (4-0) ranks No. 6, and USC (3-0) ranks No. 7. Texas A&M (4-0) ranks No. 8 and is followed by Santa Clara (3-0) and Tennessee (3-0-1) at No. 9 and No. 10.
The Mountaineers open their 2018 home season at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium this weekend with a pair of matches. WVU kicks against Xavier on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m., and No. 11-ranked Georgetown on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 3 p.m.
Thursday is a Dollar Night, and all tickets and select concessions will be available for $1 each. Sunday is the second-annual Dog Day at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, and the first 100 dogs in attendance will receive a WVU bandana. A waiver form for all dogs is available at WVUsports.com. Also on Sunday, the first 250 fans will receive WVU sunglasses.
Tickets for all regular-season home matches are now on sale at WVUGAME.com. The WVU Soccer Scarf ticket package, which includes 10 tickets to be used at any women's or men's regular-season soccer match and an exclusive 2018 WVU soccer scarf, also is available for purchase at WVUGAME.com. Packages are just $30 and are available while supplies last.
Fans also can now purchase tickets online in advance for any home match by visiting WVUGAME.com and selecting the Print-At-Home or Mobile Delivery options.
