
Foster Earns Another Preseason Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior goalkeeper Rylee Foster of the No. 9-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team was named to the TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI Second Team.
The lone Mountaineer representative, Foster, a native of Cambridge, Ontario, ranks behind UCF goalkeeper Vera Varis, who landed on the first team.
Also named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List and the 2018 Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer Team, Foster enters her third season at WVU as one of the nation's top netminders. As a sophomore, she garnered United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team accolades and also was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.
Foster logged the fifth-most minutes nationally in 2017 (2,122:15) and earned credit for 12 of the Mountaineers' 13 shutouts, tops in the Big 12 and No. 8 nationally. She also ranked No. 1 in the conference with a 0.64 goals-against average (GAA).
At season's end, Foster ranked No. 5 among active Division I goalkeepers with a career GAA of 0.55. She also ranked No. 30 with 20 career shutouts.
The Mountaineers open the 2018 season at No. 4 Penn State on Friday, Aug. 17, with kick from Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pennsylvania, set for 7:30 p.m. Friday is WVU's third straight season opener against a top-five ranked opponent.
