ORLANDO – Two Abdul Adams touchdown runs have given 20th-ranked Syracuse a 14-12 halftime lead over No. 16 West Virginia in tonight's Camping World Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
With three key offensive players Will Grier, Gary Jennings Jr. and Yodny Cajuste not playing this evening, West Virginia managed to get a second-quarter touchdown run from Kennedy McKoy and two Evan Staley field goals with Jack Allison under center.
Allison completed 7-of-16 passes for 77 yards while the Mountaineer ground game managed to generate 124 yards on 20 attempts.
Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey completed 7-of-14 passes for 110 yards, but was picked off twice, once by Keith Washington at the SU 16 to set up McKoy's touchdown run, and the second by Derrek Pitt right before the end of the first half.
The Mountaineer defense brought constant pressure and sacked Dungey five times resulting in a loss of 30 yards. The Orange ran 25 times for 64 yards.
West Virginia will get the football to begin the second half.
