Duo Earns Scholar All-Region Accolades

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Juniors Pascal Derwaritsch and Ryan Kellogg of the West Virginia University men's soccer team have been named to the Scholar All-Region Team by the United Soccer Coaches.
Derwaritsch and Kellogg were both named to the south region's second team. They are WVU's first Scholar All-Region honorees since 2016 and the sixth and seventh since 2013.
"Congratulations to both Pascal and Ryan," WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. "Both played critical roles towards our success on the field while continuing to maintain the highest of standards for themselves academically. Both are incredible ambassadors for our program, tremendous role models for the soccer youth in our community, and proof of our commitment to develop our student-athletes both on and off the pitch."
The pair helped lead the Mountaineers to a 14-7-0 record, a Mid-American Conference title and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.
An All-MAC Second Team honoree, Derwaritsch started all 21 matches and was second on the team with six goals, 14 points and three game-winning goals. He finished third with 13 shots on goal, fourth with 21 shots and 1,883 minutes played and had two assists.
Derwaritsch, who hails from Altlussheim, Germany, is majoring in sport management and has a 3.54 grade-point average.
Kellogg also was named to the All-MAC Second Team and played in 20 matches with 16 starts. He was third on the team with two game-winning goals, fourth with four goals and 10 points and had two assists, 19 shots and eight shots on goal in 1,559 minutes played.
A Parkville, Missouri, native, Kellogg is majoring in finance and has a 3.80 GPA.
