WVU Enters NCAA Tournament Ranked No. 18

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team enters the NCAA Tournament at No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll.
The Mountaineers also check in at No. 17 in this week's Soccer America rankings and No. 18 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll. WVU is ranked for the third consecutive week and has been ranked in 12 of coach Marlon LeBlanc's 13 seasons. Additionally, West Virginia is No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches North Regional rankings.
In the NCAA statistical rankings, WVU is No. 5 nationally in total assists (46), No. 10 in points (122), No. 11 in shot accuracy (.494) and fewest fouls per game (9.42), No. 15 in goals (38) and No. 16 in scoring offense (2.00). Additionally, the Mountaineers pace the Mid-American Conference in saves per game (3.95) and save percentage (.758).
Individually, senior midfielder Joey Piatczyc ranks No. 6 in the country in assists per game (0.56) and No. 10 with five game-winning goals, while he leads the MAC with nine assists and 1.44 points per game. Junior midfielder Andres Muriel Albino is No. 20 in the NCAA in shot accuracy (0.581), and sophomore goalkeeper Steven Tekesky ranks No. 27 in minutes played (1711:37) and No. 30 in total saves (71). Tekesky also leads the league in saves per game (3.74).
The Mountaineers (13-6-0) host LIU Brooklyn in the NCAA Championship First Round on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
