Hannah Abraham of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has been named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Additionally, the Mountaineers (11-3-3, 7-1) moved up three spots to No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's National Poll.
A native of Fairchance, Pennsylvania, Abraham's honor is the first of her career. She is the fifth different Mountaineer to claim a Big 12 weekly honor this season.
Abraham's honor follows a three-goal showing in a pair of Mountaineer road victories, as she tallied the game-winning goals in a 2-1 victory at Oklahoma State on Oct. 19 and in a 4-1 victory at Oklahoma on Oct. 21. After tallying the game-winner at OU in the 19th minute, she added an insurance goal in the 28th minute for her first career brace.
Abraham ranks No. 2 on the team with 11 points (4 G, 3 A). Three of her scores this season have been game-winners, a team-best total, and she ranks No. 1 among the Mountaineers with nine career game-winning goals. Abraham ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 with nine points (3 G, 3 A) in conference games.
Texas' Nicole Curry and Julia Grosso were named the Big 12 Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
WVU's position in this week's United Soccer NCAA Poll is its highest of the regular season; the Mountaineers were ranked No. 9 in the preseason poll.
Stanford (14-0-1) continues to rank No. 1 and is followed by USC (14-1-1) at No. 2. North Carolina (14-2-1) ranks No. 3, Georgetown (15-0-2) sits at No. 4 and Duke (13-2-2) ranks No. 5.
Santa Clara (14-2-1) ranks No. 6, and Vanderbilt (15-1-1) follows at No. 7. UCLA (11-3-1) and Florida State (12-3-2) rank No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, and Baylor (14-4) sits at No. 10.
Additionally, the Mountaineers moved up five spots to No. 11 in the Soccer America Women's College Top 25 and four spots to No. 19 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Division I Top 25.
WVU also sits at No. 12 in this week's NCAA RPI, the sixth of the season; it is the team's highest position of the year. The Big 12 Conference is the No. 1-ranked conference in the NCAA RPI for the second time this season.
The Mountaineers (11-3-3, 7-1) conclude their 2018 regular-season slate against Kansas on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Admission is free, courtesy of WVU Medicine.
