This week's Life as a Mountaineer profiles West Virginia University senior middle linebacker Al-Rasheed Benton, whose eight tackles in the season opener against Virginia Tech tied Hakeem Bailey for the team lead.

Benton, a Newark, New Jersey, resident, was named to the preseason All-Big 12 team by Phil Steele and he has appeared in 40 career games, starting 15, heading into Saturday's home opener against East Carolina.
