
WVU Moves Up to No. 14 as Quintanilla, Arslan Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team has moved up to No. 14 in today's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's National Poll as junior Jorge Quintanilla and senior Jad Arslan were recognized with Team of the Week accolades.
The Mountaineers (3-0-1) also enter the national rankings in the College Soccer News Top 30 at No. 19 and is ranked No. 23 by TopDrawerSoccer.com. WVU is ranked No. 1 in the Great Lakes regional ranking for the second consecutive week by United Soccer Coaches.
Quintanilla was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Men's Team of the Week, while Arslan was an honorable mention selection. It is the second and third Team of the Week honor for WVU this season after Arslan was recognized last week.
Quintanilla had a career-high three assists in WVU's 4-1 win against Wright State on Friday night. He added two shots and one shot on goal to help lead the Mountaineers to their third consecutive win. Quintanilla leads the Mid-American Conference and is third nationally with four assists, while he is second on the team with six points and has added one goal in WVU's first four matches this season.
Arslan notched a career-high-tying two goals in Friday's win, including the game-winner, and added a team-best six shots and two shots on goal. He leads the MAC and is eighth nationally with four goals, including a nation-best three game-winners, in 2017.
With the 4-1 win over Wright State and a 0-0 draw to Monmouth on Monday, WVU is unbeaten to open the season.
The Mountaineers return to action against UCF on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Admission will be free for all fans, courtesy of WVU Medicine. The game comes after the WVU football team hosts East Carolina at noon.
