Grier Named Newcomer of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following his performance in Sunday's season opener against Virginia Tech, junior quarterback Will Grier has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Grier completed 31-of-53 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns, while also racking up 52 yards rushing on 11 carries. His 371 passing yards are the most ever by a quarterback making his WVU debut.
Grier threw two touchdown passes to junior wide receiver David Sills V and one touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr.
West Virginia returns to action in the home opener against East Carolina this Saturday at noon. The game has been designated as a 'Gold Rush' and will be televised on FS2.
