United Bank Playbook: Bye Week Prep
September 27, 2017 10:03 AM | Football
There is no game this weekend, but that doesn't mean the work stops for the 23rd ranked Mountaineers.
Veteran coach Dana Holgorsen is working out his team this week, then giving them Saturday off to be normal college students before getting back at it in preparation for the Saturday, October 7 showdown at ninth-ranked TCU, now riding high after its convincing 44-31 victory at Oklahoma State last Saturday.
The Big 12 matchup pitting the two ranked foes will be televised nationally on FS1 and will kick off at 3:30 p.m.
TCU is also idle this week.
"There are a lot of things we've got to get done," Holgorsen noted. "There's always a health element to it. There is a player-time element to it. I like getting these guys out and letting them be normal for a few days but then there is a work element to it, too. We're going to line up and practice for three times throughout the course of the week and just try and improve.
"We're at a point where we're trying to figure out who we are but there are still a lot of things that we still need to work on as well," he added.
Meanwhile, West Virginia is getting closer to selling out its October 14 date against undefeated Texas Tech at Milan Puskar Stadium. The Red Raiders are off to a 3-0 start with impressive early season victories over Arizona State and Houston leading into Saturday night's game against Oklahoma State at 8 p.m. on FOX.
A kick time and television coverage has not yet been revealed for the Texas Tech game.
