
Mountaineers Rank No. 9

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team sits at No. 9 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll.
Following a 1-1 showing to open their Big 12 Conference season, the Mountaineers (8-3, 1-1) dropped four spots this week. WVU has ranked within the top 10 of the coaches poll (formally the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Poll) since the third week of the 2015 season.
UCLA (8-0-1, 1-0 Pac-12) continues to sit at No. 1 and is followed by Stanford (8-1, 1-0 Pac-12) at No. 2, South Carolina (9-1, 3-0 SEC) at No. 3, Duke (10-1, 3-0 ACC) at No. 4 and North Carolina (7-2, 3-0 ACC) at No. 5.
Penn State (7-2-1, 3-0-1 Big Ten) ranks No. 6, and USC (6-1-1, 0-0-1 Pac-12) sits at No. 7. Texas (10-0, 2-0) sits ahead of WVU at No. 8, and Florida (8-2, 2-1 SEC) rounds out the top 10.
In addition to the Mountaineers and the Longhorns, Oklahoma State (8-1-2, 1-0) also represents the Big 12 Conference in this week's poll and ranks No. 19.
The Mountaineers moved up two spots to No. 8 in this week's NCAA RPI, the second of the season. South Carolina owns the top spot; Stanford sits at No. 2; North Carolina is No. 3; UCF (5-1-1, 1-0-1 AAC) is No. 4 and Texas is No. 5.
WVU also ranks No. 10 in in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Division I Top 25 National Rankings and No. 11 in the Soccer America Women's Top 25.
The Mountaineers embark on their last of three straight road trips this weekend. WVU will face Kansas State on Friday, Sept. 29, with first kick at K-State Soccer Complex in Manhattan, Kansas, set for 8 p.m. EST.
