AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 5-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team concludes its Big 12 Conference season-opening road trip at No. 17 Texas on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. EST, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Sunday's match is the Mountaineers' (8-2, 1-0) sixth against a ranked opponent this season and the teams' first as ranked foes since WVU joined the Big 12 in 2012. WVU is 3-2 against ranked teams in 2017 and 2-0 away from Morgantown.
WVU owns a 5-1-1 all-time series edge over UT (9-0, 1-0), the last undefeated team nationally, and has won five of the last six matches, including a 1-0 victory in Austin on Oct. 23, 2016. A banger from midfielder
Carla Portillo in the 79th minute was the difference, as the top-ranked Mountaineers finished with a 12-11 edge in shots and made six saves for the clean sheet.
"It's going to be tough," Mountaineer coach
Nikki Izzo-Brown said. "They were a tough team last year, and they're a tough team this year. They're undefeated, and we're going to have to regenerate and recover quickly to get ready for the Longhorns."

Rylee Foster has played all 10 matches between the posts and shows a .780 goals-against average (GAA). She and the WVU backline have posted six shutouts.
Off to its best start in program history, UT pushed its win streak to nine with a 1-0 victory over Iowa State on Sept. 22, in Austin. Freshman Haley Berg tallied the game-winner against the Cyclones in the 50th minute. The score was her third of the season and second game-winner.
Sophomore forward Cyera Hintzen, the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, paces UT with 12 points (4 G, 4 A). The Longhorns rank No. 3 in the Big 12 with a 1.78 scoring offense. Sophomore Nicole Curry has played all nine matches in goal and shows a 0.44 GAA, the third-best mark in the conference. She has made 18 saves and posted six shutouts.
