September 16, 2017 01:57 PM | Football
West Virginia quarterback Will Grier led the offense into the end zone six times, and Mike Molina kicked a 20-yard field goal to help the Mountaineers to a 45-10 lead over Delaware State at halftime of today's game at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Justin Crawford scored three times on runs of two, three and nine yards, and Grier threw three more touchdown passes, two going to Marcus Simms.
Grier, who completed 15 of his 22 first-half pass attempts for 276 yards, has now thrown 11 touchdown passes in his first three games of the season - one shy of the record of 12 touchdown passes Geno Smith threw during his first three games of the 2012 season.
Crawford leads all rushers with 79 yards on 11 rushes.
Gary Jennings has caught five passes for 110 yards, including a 48-yarder which led to Crawford's final touchdown jaunt of the half.
Delaware State's touchdown came on its opening possession of the game when Nyfease West took a short pass from Jack McDaniels and ran the length of the field for an 81-yard touchdown.
The Hornets' other score came following a Will Grier fumble at at the six when Wisdom Nzidee kicked a 24-yard field goal.
